Japanese University Admission Policies 4 December 2018

On November 26, the Ministry of Education (Japan) has announced a policy to remove the age requirement in order to enter Japanese universities.

Foreign students and returnees who studied abroad to enroll in Japanese universities had to complete a 12-year school curriculum and be at least 18 years of age by the time they apply.

If this age limit requirement is eliminated, students who have graduated from international schools will be able to enroll at Japanese universities even if they are under 18 years old. Last year, some of our graduates had to wait for a year to enroll in Japan universities due to this age limit.

This proposal is in the revision stage. However, it seems that the policy will be formally applied in the near future.
