The Shapes of Communication 8 March 2019

During the present Unit, Gr 8 is researching the evolution of written communication. To collect Primary information for their research, they visited the Tokyo Printing Museum.

It was a pleasant journey on the train and from Iidabashi to the printing Museum we enjoyed a nice walk.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to appreciate the different stages of the evolution of written communication. Art teach Marcela Villa provided a questioner to guide students` inquiry around the main gallery. Later they took part in a workshop to understand how some of the printing techniques are used to reproduce fonts on paper.

Back in class students are using their research to answer the Unit inquiry questions:  How the innovations in communication have shaped the way we communicate today? And How does the shape of a letter represent a message?
