Introducing Mrs. Velez, K3’s Homeroom Teacher 20 April 2017
Mrs. Teresa Velez is our K3’s homeroom teacher. She is the one welcoming our Hikarigaoka Campus’ youngest learners to their first academic experience in life. Since 1986, she enjoys teaching because of a simple reason “Children have an extraordinary way of making me laugh almost everyday”.

Where are you from and how long have you been living in Japan?
I am from the Phil and I’ve been living in Japan since Oct 1989.
What did you study?
Bachelor of Science in Music Education.
How long have you been teaching or working in Education?
I have been teaching since 1986.
What do you like most about teaching or working in Education?
Children have an extraordinary way of making me laugh almost everyday.
What are your roles here at A-JIS?
Homeroom teacher to K3.
What do you do for fun?
I love entertaining guests at home, traveling with my husband, going to Costco! I also like playing religious music and baking.
Do you have any special sayings or expressions? Can you share them with us?
I tend to say “ Oh lala!” whenever I get surprised!
Is there something interesting about yourself you would like to share?
I play the organ in Roppongi every Sunday and teach a church choir. I also get involved with different charity organizations.
