Aoba cooperates with IB on IB Online Diploma Programme Pilot 10 May 2023
We are excited to announce that Aoba-Japan International School has been selected by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to develop and deliver Asia and Japan’s first ever IB Online Diploma Programme Pilot.

Aoba’s IB Online Diploma Programme Pilot allows students to study for and achieve the IB DP via a 100% online, 2 year high school programme.
The first cohort of the programme is currently accepting applications for an August 2023 start.Applications are also open for the second cohort starting April 2024.
Students who successfully complete the programme will graduate from Aoba-Japan International School and receive both an accredited Aoba High School Diploma (CIS, NEASC accredited) as well as the IB DP Diploma (IB accredited), both recognised by leading universities around the world.
Developed in cooperation with the International Baccalaureate (IB), Aoba’s IB Online Diploma Programme Pilot is an exciting step forward for international education and online learning and is part of Aoba’s strategy to realise the following:
- Expanding access to high quality international education to a broader range of students in Japan and around the world; including supports for Japanese students interested in studying the IB DP.
- Providing students with a highly flexible, personalised high school program designed to help them achieve their university, career, and personal goals.
- Further diversifying and strengthening our school community by making our high school programs truly global.
