Artscape 2019 – Gallery

Artscape 2019 was on exhibit at the Azabu Kids-to-Teens Hall from February 12, 2019-February 26, 2019. The first Artscape exhibition was mounted over 30 years ago and has become a Tokyo tradition. Over the years the exhibition has grown to include more schools and now resides in Minato, Tokyo. It is primarily a survey exhibition of classwork from local 6th-12th grade international school programs. The product is to share our academic program successes and grow from collegial interactions between professional Art educators.

This year the exhibition began with an opening reception on Tuesday February 12, 2019 at 4:30 pm. Over the two week exhibition period family, friends, and school communities were invited to view Artscape from 9:30 am-8:00 pm each day. The exhibition began on the first floor in the lobby and continued to the second floor where both two-dimensional and three-dimensional art is on display. Each one of our students had their own panel displaying selected pieces.

Three of our Aoba students had work in the show. Grace Moses 7th grade, Jiahang Li 7th grade, and Zhuoyun Zheng 9th grade. The girls have been in the Art studio after school weekly with Ms. Kristen since November to prepare their pieces. They have worked very hard at both school and home to complete their goals taking the show even further with their concepts. Most of the work is watercolor with an additional single piece executed in oil. We greatly appreciate the support given by Mr. Cervantes, Ms. Yifan, and Mr. Meyer who visited us regularly during our weekly meetings. The families of these students have also been instrumental in encouraging the arts.
