Introducing Ms. Stacey Last, Drama/English Teacher 8 June 2016

Ms. Stacey Last is the new Drama Teacher here at Aoba. We sat down for an interview to find out more about her.

Where are you from?
I’m from New Zealand.

How long have you been teaching for?
I’ve been teaching drama for 6 years, in addition to that i have also taught swimming and worked at summer camps in the past.

What are your hobbies?
First of all I really enjoy acting, singing, and theater as they are my passions, in addition I like swimming, running, and rugby.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?
When I left high school I knew I was going to be a teacher. It helps that I was inspired by my teacher in high school.

What do you love about teaching?
I really love the energy that i get from the students. Really love the knowledge that we bring and share in the classroom and then use as a collective.

What is your approach to teaching?
Creating positive relationships in the classroom with my students so we can get the best out of teaching and learning. Being a drama teacher allows me to see the students in a completely different space. It’s about mindfulness and being present within the space. I love a challenge so it’s not just teaching them acting, it’s about teaching them everything.

A-JIS is very proud to have Ms. Last join the the team and community as she brings passion and energy to the school.
