Challenge Camp Stories 31 August 2017
G11 & G12 students went together for a two-day Summer Challenge Camp from Aug. 25 to Aug. 26. This year’s camp was at Oze National Park; the highest Marshland on the main Island of Japan, famous for it’s Flora and Fauna.
The experience enhanced critical leadership skills and intensified teamwork skills by sharing daily tasks and responsibilities. How did our learners enjoy their camp experience? Let’s have a look at some of their reflections:
“It was a really good experience because we were able to cooperate a lot then we can at school. And by working in teams it made us realize how teamwork is important and our friendship became closer than it was.”
“The walk in the mud was exhausting and there were way too many bugs. However, the time spent together with each other was good and memorable, especially during and after the cooking where we ate in the dark like a cult meeting.”
“Throughout the trip we were forced to work as a team. Everyone had a job to do, whether that was scouting for flowers, counting planks, hunting bears, writing down our finds.”
“The one thing that required the most coordination must have been the cooking of our curry dinner and bring our trash back home.”
“No cell phone, no wifi, but there was nature in the mountains. A totally different world for city kids.”
“Really challenging if we were needing to go alone, but collaborating with friends and teammates will make the challenge better.”
