Parent Workshops 7 November 2017
A-JIS hosted three parent workshops today at its Hikarigaoka Campus.
1. Whole school – Direction/ future of A-JIS
This workshop described the strategic direction of the school for the next 2 years. The workshop was divided in two parts:
1. An overview of the school’s achievements to date.
2. An outline of the school’s future focus and driving the school’s decision-making processes.
2. PYP – Three way conference
The focus of this workshop was to discuss the purpose of the three way conferences and student portfolios. We also discussed how these practices align with our assessment policy.
3. MYP/DP - Assessment and reporting
This workshop outlined how assessment works in the MYP and what are the expectations for students to do well in the programme. It gave some examples of assessment practices and how grades are arrived at in the MYP. The assessment cycle and what parents can do to support their children were also explained in this workshop.
Thank you for joining us in the workshops today and hope to see you in the upcoming ones!
