PYP Exhibition 2018 22 March 2018

“In the final year of the PYP, students, carry out an extended, in-depth, collaborative project known as the PYP exhibition. This involves students working collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real life issues or problems.” www.ibo.org

Over the next two months, G5 students will be given time to research about the causes and impacts of an issue they have previously selected. Students will be given an opportunity to use this knowledge to take action!

Follow their journey!

EXHIBITION STAGE

Tuesday, April 17th – Exploring the issues

After the central has been selected, G5 students are exploring their issues in more depth. They do research, discuss their ideas with other people and gather more information.

Friday, April 13th – 1st Meeting with mentor

Each group has been assigned a mentor who can help with their inquiry goals by asking questions, suggesting resources or helping with interviews or telephone calls. G5 students are meeting their mentors for the first time to present their central idea and lines of inquiry.

PRE-EXHIBITION STAGE

Monday, April 10th – What is to be involved in taking action

A-JIS parents Mr and Mrs Kawasaki came to talk to our Grade 5 students about what is involved in taking action- being positive, viewing mistakes as part of learning, problem-solving, persevering and setting small, achievable goals. Their message was timely as the students begin their Exhibition process this week, inquiring into an issue of interest and taking action as a result of their learning.

Thursday, March 22nd – Developing the central idea

G5 students brainstorm possible central ideas that can fit with any issue they might select. After creating a list of central ideas they will vote for the best one.
